The Mountune team throw open their doors once again to show off a range of products, vehicles and their premises for the annual cars and coffee event...
|
Another year means another Cars and Coffee event at Mountune's factory base in Hutton, Essex and 2011 proved just as busy as last year for the Mountune team.
Despite the weather being less than warm a large attendance made the effort to join us for a coffee, cake and chat amongst likeminded enthusiasts and some rather special vehicles... lots bagged a bargain on the day, too.
For those that couldn't make it on the day, here's a re-cap of the main exhibits and the things you need to know - all of which will be covered in FastFord magazine soon... Two new MR upgrades were showcased during the day; the MR290, for Focus ST and a new concept Diesel upgrade called the MRD270 for the Mk6 Fiesta Zetec-S 1.6-litre TDCi.

Left: One corner of the workshop was turned into a static display featuring the M-Sport MS1 Fiesta rally car (calibration support by Mountune) and a makeshift shop!
Below: Rob, during day 2 of the RS500 matt wrap removal and detail... there were plenty of surprises along the way of undressing our RS500 - all of which you'll be able to read about in a Ford magazine near you soon! |

Since the event there's been strong interest in the 115PS, 270Nm kit and it's likely the concept will be released as a Mountune Racing Diesel kit. In addition to the new road kits there was also the opportunity to get up close to both 2011 BTCC Focus' - powered by Mountune Racing Duratec turbo engines. It's one thing watching them on the TV but it's not until you get up close that you can truly appreciate the amount of engineering that goes into building one of these racers - oh, and if that wasn't enough 2011 Championship contender, Motorbase driver and all-round nice guy, Mat Jackson also dropped in to sign a few autographs and stock up on our coffee! On the hour the engine dyno cells were opened to the public for the first time complete with a guided tour - still in operation on the day with a new dyno cell being commissioned, it showed how product development might not be the prettiest or cleanest of jobs, but it's one that never stops and is at heart of what we do. A huge thank you must go to everyone who helped out behind the scenes to make the day possible; Arena Motorsport and Motorbase for the loan of the touring cars, M-sport for the loan of the Fiesta MS1, Mark Roberts, Dan Arrowsmith, Rockstar energy drinks and of course everyone that came along - we hope you enjoyed it and look forward to welcoming you again next year! Don't forget to check out the full feature in FastFord magazine, soon! |
